It gives you the ability to turn your Mac (no PC yet) into an AirPlay target for your compatible iOS devices. From a technical seller standpoint this is great to be able to demo iPad apps like Jabber over WebEx or in presentation settings. It uses the Bonjour service for discovery so your Mac and iPad have to be on the same wireless network. Typically this is not a problem but I have run into some situations where traffic is filtered between devices on the same segment.
But never fear......I have found a slick little fix to this.
You can pair your iPad to your Mac which creates a PAN that allows you to share information between the two including Airplay Mirroring. Yay!
Steps:
1. Purchase ($14.99) and install the Reflection app on your Mac.
2. Pair your iPad to Mac via bluetooth. If you can’t do this we need to talk.
3. Double click the home button on your iPad and scroll to the left. You should see the Airplay icon. Click it, select your Mac and enable mirroring.

Viola! Whatever is displayed on your iPad is now displayed on your Mac.
