Jabber for Everyone (J4E)

So you may have heard about a new offer from Cisco tagged "Jabber for Everyone" but do you know what it is all about?  The net of it is this.....as long as you are a current Communications Manager customer you are now entitled to IM and Presence for ALL of your employees using the Jabber branded clients.  The key operative here is ALL.  Even if you only have 20% of your employees currently deployed with a Cisco UC solution 100% of your users are now entitled to IM and Presence at a minimum.

Here are the requirements:

• Running CUCM 7.1+
• Running CUP 8.6(4) <-- To be released mid-May

That's it!

Here is what it includes:

• All Jabber client licenses - Desktop and Mobile
• Cisco Unified Presence (CUP) Server licensing

The biggest question we are starting to get is "if Jabber is free now why do I need to invest in workspace licensing (CUWL)?"  The answer is simple.....the J4E offer is for IM and Presence ONLY.  CUWL still has immense value providing advanced features of the client:

• Deskphone Control
• Softphone Features
• Standards based Desktop Video
• Click-to-Call
• Visual Voicemail

These features are very important as customers are wanting more and more for their desktop client to be the center of their UC universe.....one application as a launching point for all of their modes of communication rather than a bunch of disparate point products.
